Smoky’s Kitchens takes outdoor living to new heights

Michael Cetta and Jason Butler, co-owners of South Miami-based Smoky’s Kitchens Outdoor Living & Smoky’s Cellars, founded the company in 2020 to fill a need for custom designed, built and installed

Michael Cetta and Jason Butler, co-owners of South Miami-based Smoky’s Kitchens Outdoor Living & Smoky’s Cellars, founded the company in 2020 to fill a need for custom designed, built and installed outdoor kitchens and living spaces. They also specialize in providing luxury wine cellars and display cases for home interiors.

“Jason and I pride ourselves on providing white-glove customer service and we’ve developed a reputation for that,” says Michael. “Once we have a good idea of what the customer wants, we visit their home to understand the physical layout. At our South Miami showroom, customers can select from the highest-quality cabinetry, barbecues, cooktops, countertop surfaces and appliances on the market.”

Smoky’s design team then presents concepts to the customer and once approved and the made-to-order cabinets and other items are received, the Smoky’s professional installation team goes to work. The results speak for themselves and the reviews have been glowing, according to Michael.

“Weather in South Florida being what it is, we only offer products that can stand up to rain, wind and heat and look good for years to come,” explains Michael. “We offer top-of-the-line weatherproof outdoor cabinets by leading companies like NatureKast and Danver, and we also manufacture our own outdoor high-density polyethylene cabinetry.”

Cabinets are composed of marine-grade starboard and even stainless steel that mimic the look and feel of real wood, and even louvered cabinet doors. Among the appliances Smoky’s can install include refrigerators, icemakers, sinks, wine coolers and pizza ovens, grills and hibachi tops.

Smoky’s is also expert at designing and installing wine cellars, though Michael is quick to point out that the term has its own definition in South Florida to mean above ground, interior wine storage areas. Because Smoky’s has a license to sell wine, the company can also stock the cellars with luxury wines. They even have a wine sommelier to consult on wine selections.

“We can create an intimate 20-bottle “wine-as-art” display case on a wall, utilizing Whisperkool cooling, or an impressive 5,000-bottle wine cellar equal to any in the Southeast,” he says.

From start to finish, most Smoky’s jobs are completed in less than six weeks. The company serves customers from the Keys to Boca Raton.

Both Jason and Michael have backgrounds in law enforcement; Jason was a detective in Tennessee and Michael is currently a detective with Miami-Dade County Police Department. They’re also brothers-in-law, so the company is truly a family-run operation. Another interesting fact is that Michael played professional baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks after pitching for Florida State University’s baseball team.
