Boston Ship Repair has clinched a significant contract for the extensive overhaul and drydocking of the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command's (MSC) 338' expeditionary fast transport vessel, USNS Burlington (T-EPF 10).

The firm-fixed-price agreement, valued at $13.8 million encompasses a base period and two optional periods, potentially reaching a cumulative value of $13.88 million.

Boston Ship Repair emerged victorious among four competing bids for this project.

The 98-calendar day shipyard availability initiative is scheduled to kick off in Boston on Nov. 1, 2023, with an expected completion date of Feb. 6, 2024.

Burlington, a Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport, serves within the U.S. Navy's MSC, fulfilling its role as a high-speed, shallow draft vessel purpose-built for the swift intra-theater transport of medium-sized cargo payloads, boasting a speed range of 35 to 45 knots. Austal USA, based in Mobile, Ala., constructed this vessel, which began its service in 2018.

Boston Ship Repair is a key component of North Atlantic Ship Repair, a strategic partnership that includes Philadelphia Ship Repair. These East Coast facilities have been delivering tailored services to a diverse clientele, including domestic, international, and government customers, since their establishment in 1995.
